For younger kids like toddlers, preschoolers, or kindergarteners, using ideas and resources like sensory bins is a great way to encourage playing and learning at the same time. These sensory bins for little learners are not only super engaging and fun, but are also simple to set up and use again and again. You can simply change out the filler material that your kids are playing with for a whole new experience as they practice literacy and math skills!
Some fun filler ideas are water beads, plain or colored rice, dry pinto or black beans, colorful pom-poms, or even shredded paper or mini erasers. Anything your kiddos like messing with with their hands is the perfect filled

4. Spring Worksheets and Review Packets
This one might seem obvious, but I’m honestly a lover of some great printable worksheet activities! I know worksheets aren’t every student’s favorite thing, but if you can find some printables that combine learning with some fun stuff (like coloring, cutting, gluing, etc.) worksheets can be really engaging activities. They’re super helpful when students have a long break from school and need to review important skills and keep them fresh in their minds.

Everyone loves CRAFTS, right?! I truly believe that if we can make all home learning fun for our learners, they’re MUCH more likely to do it and not fight it as much. So, another option is to use a few ideas for crafts that students can work on to practice skills.
These writing crafts are perfect for spring time and give students an art element to make their writing more personal. When they have a bit of fun coloring to add their own twist on it, the writing time becomes a LOT more fun. AND, the more writing practice kids get, the better writers they become! And, super simple print and work.
These spring math crafts from Jana at We Heart Teaching are all the great things…cute, educational, editable, simple, amazing. They get a HUGE thumbs up from me. All you would need to do is make sure they include the skills you want your kids to practice, print them out, and let them get to work! Low prep, high engagement, happy everyone!
You could have your kids choose a video from Art For Kids Hub to complete a directed drawing! The drawings from this family are super kid-friendly, simple, and great to paint or color afterward. You can extend the the learning by having kiddos write a story about their drawing afterward or find a book that has a similar character or setting as their drawing. :)
Parents, teachers, caregivers, grandparents, other adults caring for kids right now…y’all are doing such an amazing job doing ALL the things for your kids during this crazy time. I hope you know that you’re doing enough and that there’s something inspiring here to try at home with your sweet kiddos! Let me know if you have questions of if I can help with anything.
