1. Colors and Rainbow Books
Just below, I’ve linked to a handful of our very favorite farm animal books. My little guy is 2 and we do a lot of identifying colors while we read these, along with retelling the story too. He’s practicing telling me what’s happening on each page in his own little way, which is not only ADORABLE, but also really good for his comprehension skills. And, as we all know, books are an INCREDIBLE way to learn new things at ANY age. Even if your little one just wants to look at the pictures, point out objects or colors he or she recognizes, or can make some kind of connection to the text, those are all AMAZING early literacy skills. Books are our favorites! :)
2. Colors and Rainbows Sensory Bins and Activities
In addition to all those fun books, we also use a bunch of the activities from this resource! There are currently 8 activities included that can be used as centers activities or sensory bins, each with a recording sheet that may be completed depending on your little one’s needs and skills. Inside , there are activities to practice tracing, matching pictures, matching letters, write the room with color words, color clip cards, counting, color matching, and fine motor skills with play dough mats. My little guy is 2, so we choose one activity at a time, but you can incorporate as many as you think your little one needs to learn well and stay focused.

3. Colors and Rainbows Songs
I’ve linked to a few of our favorite songs that practice colors below! My 2-year-old dances all around the room and knows a bunch of colors because of these songs. Singing is a great way to develop vocabulary and speech, as well as learn new information! Putting new information into a song allows it to be repeated in a catchy way that sticks in your brain more easily. So, bring on the songs, yes?!
