In early education, number sense is built around number identification, counting, and understanding how numbers are represented with an amount.
So, we use sensory bins, worksheets, and hands-on activities to practice our math skills, while still keeping apples at the center of the fun! We count apples, recognize and identify numbers with apples on them, use apple erasers to complete worksheets and activities, and even cut up apples to snack on while we work.
Some of the activities included in this resource require students to cut, color, and glue smaller pieces of paper to later portions of paper while practicing a variety of math skills, which is great for their fine motor skills too. Click the picture to save time and grab these low-prep math ideas!
Literacy activities that go along with books are literally always my FAVORITE. And you can pass on your love of learning this year with these super engaging book activities! They’re the perfect blend of learning and fun for little ones to learn essential literacy and math skills using the book "How Do Apples Grow?”.
There are hands-on activities, interactive worksheets, and sensory bins to practice letter sounds, sequencing, color words, and letter formation. Many of these activities also include ways for your learners to practice skills like coloring, cutting, gluing, matching, identifying letters, retelling, and sorting colors!
It’s never too early to start learning about the way nature works with kiddos! This resource includes a handful of fun ways to learn about the concept of the life cycle and specific parts of nature, specifically pertaining to apples.
Kiddos will sort pictures and words to show about the parts of an apple, find and trace words that are necessary for plants to grow, cut and paste words to match them to the correct parts of an apple, and even build the life cycle of apples using play dough and clothespins.
Having additional activities available, like sensory bins, is a great way to get your kiddos learning and playing at the same time! I love pulling out a container of dry beans or pom-poms and adding in some buttons, mini erasers, or even just different-colored beans! My little guy loves to just dig his hands in there and play.
Hands-on centers keep kids engaged and learning so effectively, so adding cards into the container is a simple way to keep the learning fun. Any kind of activity that has your little ones using their hands, bodies, and brains all together to complete an activity is amazing. We do some sorting, matching, running back and forth from one spot to another, playing games, and singing songs to learn the early literacy and math skills that are needed . These apple-themed sensory bins are perfect for toddlers and preschoolers!
