Earth Day Activities for Kindergarten and Preschool

It’s Earth Day!! HOORAY!! Teaching our little learners the importance of caring for our Earth and exploring ways to do that is such a privilege, don’t you think? Everything ideas about recycling to ways to compost or even plant new things, finding ways to keep the Earth healthy and thriving can be such a fun adventure!

So, to reinforce all the ideas your learners come up with, I pulled together some of my favorite activities for preschoolers and kindergarteners to complete for Earth Day! Scroll down to see which activities your kiddos would love most!

1. Earth Day Worksheets

If you need some engaging, academic ways to incorporate Earth Day into your month, THESE PRINTABLE ACTIVITIES are exactly what you need! They’re print-and-go, lots of fun, and give your students practice with literacy and math concepts they’re already practicing and perfecting.

In addition to worksheets, there are writing crafts, playdough building pages, color the room AND write the room activity, and an Earth Day Bingo game! You’ll also find a printable Earth Day “I See” booklet and 2 one-page math games inside as well. All the no-prep Earth Day fun you can think of!

2. Earth Day Centers

These centers are hands on, engaging, and a super great way to get little learners involved and having fun with their learning. In this resource, you’ll find tracing activities, matching and color sorting, letter practice, and activities for numbers and counting. There are also activities to practice positional words and emotions, in addition to playdough mats and fine motor skills practice using stickers, mini erasers, pom poms…whatever you have really!

Add any of these center activities to a bin full of beans, colorful rice, or a bunch of pom poms and you have an instant sensory bin! I love using these activities with little learners and adding in a sensory element to help solidify their learning. Sensory bins also make any activity INSTANTLY more fun and exciting. Everybody wins!

3. Earth Day Books

Finding books that support your kiddos’ learning is so essential, especially when they’re young! And getting to teach our little ones the importance of caring for our earth is so rewarding and important.

4. Earth Day Busy Box

If you need a super engaging, hands-on way for your learners to learn about Earth Day, this busy box is just what you need! These activities for learning about Earth Day fit perfectly into photo boxes and are great for toddlers, preschoolers, and other young learners who are practicing identifying and learning about different things they’ll see during Earth Day.

There are fun ways to practice tracing, letter and number identification, picture matching, playdough manipulating, shapes, emotions, and so much more. Your little learners will be busy busy busy with all the fun and learning packed inside this little busy box.
