Farm Activities Activities, Sensory Bins, and Centers
Looking for hands-on way to practice farm animals knowledge?! These hands-on activities and sensory bins are the perfect way for toddlers, preschoolers, and other young learners to practice fine motor skills, matching, colors, letters, counting, animal knowledge, shapes, and much more!
This resource includes 16 activities that can be used as center activities or sensory bins. All 16 activities come with a recording sheet that may or may not be completed depending on your learner's needs and skills. There are also song/video and book suggestions for learning about life on a farm and animal sounds!
The activities included are as follows:
1. Tracing Cards: Learners will use a dry erase marker to trace lines on cards to practice fine motor skills.
2. Matching on the Farm: Learners will match the small animal cards to the larger animal cards or mat.
3. Letter Match: Learners will match the upper and lowercase letter cards to the bigger letter cards.
4. Letter Sounds: Learners will match the pictures’ beginning sound with the card showing that same letter.
5. ABC Order: Learners will arrange the letter cards with the same animal on them in the correct alphabetical order.
6. Farm Words Write the Room: Learners will trace/write the farm animal words on the cards with dry erase markers.
7. Sight Words: Learners will read sight words and farm animal words with and without pictures.
8. Syllables: Learners will put a clothespin or mini eraser on the number that shows the amount of syllables in the farm-themed word.
9. Cow Colors: Learners will match color words and farm pictures to mat with the same color name. They will also place a clothespin or mini eraser on the correct color shown in the picture.
10. Color Clip Cards: Learners will use clothespins or mini erasers to choose the correct color word to describe the picture on the card.
11. Old MacPatterns: Learners will arrange animal cards in the correct order to continue the shown pattern on the strip.
12. Super Muddy Shapes: Learners will sort the pig shapes (or normal shapes) by matching them to the mat with the correct shape name.
13. Piggy Counting: Learners will count the amount of mud puddles around each pig find the matching numeral card, and place them on the mat with the same number word.
14. Apple Addition and Sunny Subtracting: Learners will choose two number cards and place them on the addition or subtraction mat. Then, they’ll solve the math equation by drawing a picture and write the answer on the mat with dry erase marker.
15. Play Dough Mats: Learners will build the farm animals shown on each play dough mat using play dough, clay, mini erasers, or pipe cleaners.
16. Chicken Life Cycle: Learners will arrange pictures of each part of the chicken’s life cycle in the correct order.
